We've just heard that there's a County Coach course starting in Kent. We heard about this late in the day and it doesn't seem to have been advertised on the Archery GB Course Finder. Module 1 has already been held, but Trish Lovell who is running the course will redo the session for anyone who signs up, 1:1 if necessary. The next date is December 15th/16th to be confirmed depending on another course that's also running. It will be followed by February 10th, April 6th, June 23rd, an August date to yet be decided, then October 6th and November 30th. The later dates in 2019 are flexible as the attendees from Kent are seeking funding from a local sports grant and there may be a timeframe for completion.
Trish expects to keep in touch between sessions via Facetime and email etc. to ensure candidates are working OK with their archers. If anyone is interested they can email her directly with their contact details and she will ring you back to discuss arrangements. The cost is £600 but this can be paid in instalments if necessary. Congratulations to our very own Anna Heaven who has qualified as a Senior Coach after two years of extremely hard work. Well done Anna!
Archery GB has changed direction on how the National Talent Development Program for juniors will be delivered this year. Instead of going to Lilleshall every 3 months, training will be delivered out of the official Archery Training Centres (ATC) around the country. See here for the flier from Gaynor Hutchison at Aim4sport. Further details are on the Aim4sport website. [28/07/2018]
Mark Wiseman has kindly made his presentation available from the talk on Tuesday 10th July. He has given us permission to share it with those who attended and have a genuine interest, so if you were there and would like a copy then please contact the Guild Secretary. [18/07/2018]
We have scheduled the second in a series of talks aimed at assisting coaches with their Continuing Professional Development (CPD). It will be held at Perris Rettendon on Tuesday 10th July starting at 19:30.
Presented by Mark Wiseman, this will cover the broad topic of coaching the mind and emotional states in young archers. Mark has a background in Leadership training in the commercial sector. He has worked with a number of young archers over the years, helping them to develop their potential and helping several earn their place on the GB squad. Mark's fee will be donated to the Children with Cancer charity which goes to enriching the lives of young people who have this disease.
If you are planning to attend it would be appreciated if you could indicate your interest on the Facebook event or send a quick email to the Guild Secretary so that we get a rough idea as to numbers. Please bring a chair if possible!
Points can be claimed for attending either or both events. We appreciate that the topics will be of interest outside the coaching community, so the events are open to all archers in Essex & Suffolk. Admission to both events will be by donations on the door. [11/06/2018]
